Commercial diving school, on its own, won’t prepare you to become an underwater welder, but commercial diving is a necessary skill to have in order to begin a career in underwater welding. Be sure to check out the underwater welding schools blog to find reviews of some of the worlds best commercial diving schools. The information in the blog will help you to determine which program would be the best fit for you.
In many cases, students have the option to take a comprehensive course that includes both, underwater welding training and commercial diving training. The comprehensive courses tend to be more expensive than standalone commercial diving programs; however, they do allow students to learn multiple skills in one course, usually with one set of instructors. If you think you might have trouble affording a comprehensive course, you can follow the instructions on this website to tackle one skill at a time.
Begin your journey at a commercial diving school:
Commercial diving instruction and certification can take up to 6 months to complete, but by the time you get out of commercial diving school, you will be ready to begin applying for jobs with diving companies. SCUBA diving jobs don’t usually pay inexperienced divers very well, but they don’t pay terribly either, so the salary from scuba diving jobs should be enough to keep food on your table while you complete welding programs and welding apprenticeships.
Go for the underwater welding salary:
You could stop your education after completing your SCUBA diving training or commercial diving training, and after a few years of experience you will probably start to make a reasonable living off of SCUBA diving jobs. However, if you can manage to hang in there and add the trade of welding to the skills that you have developed in commercial diving school, you will immediately be able to jump to a higher pay bracket than other commercial divers. When you are just out of underwater welding school, you will probably be pulling down a starting underwater welding salary of just under six figures. Underwater welding is a career in which experience counts for a lot–after each extra year of experience that you gain, you can expect to see a relatively significant jump in the underwater welding salary that you earn. With several years of experience under their belt, underwater divers can earn close to a quarter of a million dollars per year!
Next steps:
Click over to the welding programs section of this website in order to learn about some of the things that you should know before applying to welding programs and welding apprenticeships.

Well I guess I don’t have to spend the weenekd figuring this one out!
Glad to help! We aim to collect as much information as possible about underwater welding on one convenient site!
Underwater Welding Schools provide training for under water welding, that a amazing work and has a bright future
I agree, underwater welding is a great profession to get into. It is one of those increasingly rare careers that people from a modest background can use to launch themselves solidly into the middle class. With a few months of training in welding programs, and commercial diving programs, underwater welders should be able to put themselves in a position to rake in some serious cash. Hi Kyler, thanks for commenting. Since you live in texas, you may want to check out The Ocean Corporation; it’s located in Houston, and the underwater welding schools blog just profiled its program. You may also want to check out Commercial Diving Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. It’s not quite as close to you, but it is another great program located close to the gulf coast oil and gas industries.
Great blogs…
